3rd Grade: Paisley Knap
Four years ago, Paisley Knap walked into her first year of school a little nervous but mostly excited and eager to be the best student she could be. It was immediately evident that Paisley was a very bright girl who enjoyed school and time with her friends. However, it didn’t take long for her to grow frustrated and discouraged because she began to notice that school, reading and writing in particular were getting increasingly harder. By 2nd grade, she began asking me why other teachers were taking her so much and why she had to work with me so much. Fast forward to the beginning of 3rd grade when Paisley expressed even more frustration because she works so hard, so she didn’t understand why she had extra work to do. Well, Paisley, I am very happy and proud to say that you are a shining example of hard work, and your effort is paying off! I love to see you volunteering and eager to read in front of the class, it’s a beautiful sound. Your writing has pleasantly surprised me this year and it continues to get better and better. Congratulations Paisley, you are truly a Failure Leads to Success Superstar!
4th Grade: Sabriel Svalina
I am honored to award Sabriel Svalina for the key, Failure Leads to Success. Sabriel has proven that life's obstacles can bring on challenges, but do not allow her to give up or keep her from moving in a positive direction. It shows great courage and maturity to be able to explain the how and why learning can be difficult. It’s courageous to reach learning goals no matter the difficulty and Sabriel has proven this. When reteaching or extra support is needed, Sabriel sees opportunity , not failure. Receiving feedback and taking ownership isn’t easy, but Sabriel takes it in strides to make growth socially and academically. Her willingness to keep trying, her work ethic to learn from mistakes, her positive attitude when life can be overwhelming are all attributes to the success Sabriel is demonstrating.
Sabriel came to CPES this year knowing she had a fresh start and I am thrilled she is a part of our cougar family and thriving. When she greets me with a smile, hug, and a reminder of how much she loves school daily, that is SUCCESS. I am so very proud of you Sabriel!
5th Grade: Harlee Boyer
I am excited to announce Harlee Boyer as the 5th grade winner of the Failure Leads to Success Key! This award celebrates individuals who demonstrate resilience, determination, and a willingness to learn from their mistakes, and Harlee embodies these qualities perfectly. From tackling a challenging math problem to revising an essay, Harlee consistently views setbacks as opportunities to grow. Instead of giving up, she takes the time to reflect on feedback, ask questions to deepen her understanding, and apply her newfound knowledge to improve. Her dedication to learning is truly inspiring, and it’s clear that she views every mistake as a stepping stone toward success. What makes Harlee stand out is their fearless approach to seeking help and her hunger for knowledge. She is never afraid to seek guidance when she hits a roadblock. This willingness to ask questions and embrace feedback shows her growth mindset and commitment to becoming the best version of herself. Harlee reminds us all that success isn’t about getting everything right the first time—it’s about learning, adapting, and never giving up. I am so proud of Harlee for being a shining example of how failure can truly lead to success!
