FLEXIBILITY – Be willing to do things differently
Recognize what’s not working and be willing to change what you’re doing to achieve your goal.
3rd- Logan Palmer- Logan would be an outstanding candidate for any of the keys, but the key of Flexibility is perfect for her for a couple reasons. The key itself says to “Recognize what’s not working and be willing to change what you’re doing to achieve your goal.” Logan does this all the time. If she can’t figure something out, she doesn’t give up, get frustrated, or “stuck in a rut” - she simply finds another way to do it until she’s successful.
The other way in which Logan demonstrates the key of flexibility is her ability to adapt to change with such positivity. Whether it’s a change in a schedule or routine, beginning a new topic/unit, or working in different groups, she always “goes with the flow” with a smile. She doesn’t complain, but jumps right in with an amazing attitude ready to get to work. Logan is a quiet leader, a kind classmate, and her ability to make the best of every situation makes her such a joy to be around, and we are so proud that she is our 3rd grade candidate for the key of flexibility.
4th- Shaelynn Shoemaker- Shaelynn exemplifies the key of Flexibility by consistently demonstrating a willingness to adapt and embrace change in order to achieve success. She recognizes when a strategy isn’t working and is always open to trying new approaches, whether in the classroom, with her peers, or in problem-solving situations. Shaelynn faces challenges with a positive attitude, adjusting her thinking and actions to overcome obstacles rather than letting them hold her back. Whether it’s learning a new concept in math, adjusting to changes in a group project, or finding a new way to complete an assignment, she remains open-minded and determined to move forward. Instead of getting frustrated when things don’t go as planned, Shaelynn looks for solutions and inspires those around her to do the same. Learning can be tough at times, and Shaelynn has seen her share of successes and failures. Yet, she is willing to do whatever it takes to overcome any obstacles that stand between her and her learning. Maybe this means spending more time than some on a new concept. Maybe it means getting extra help from other teachers at times. It doesn't matter to Shaelynn. She has the flexibility and drive to do what it takes to be successful.
Her ability to embrace change with confidence and creativity makes her a role model for her classmates. She truly embodies what it means to be flexible—responding to challenges in ways that help her grow and succeed. For these reasons, we proudly nominate Shaelynn Shoemaker for the 8 Keys of Excellence: Flexibility Award in fourth grade.
5th- Wade Rinker- It is my pleasure to recognize Wade Rinker for the Key of Flexibility.
“Flexibility is characterized by having an approach to thinking with openness to new ideas, the adaptability to change, and a willingness to adjust strategies in response to different circumstances.” Wade exhibits all of the characteristics.
When faced with a challenging assignment, or a change in plans in the classroom, Wade always accepts the situation with a positive attitude. He is able to adjust his approach to any situation with a determination that aids in his success. Wade exhibits calmness and patience when facing new and difficult work. When experiencing a setback, Wade seeks help that will lead him to success.
Wade is a role model for his fellow students by welcoming others and their input when working in a group setting. When someone has a differing viewpoint, Wade is willing to listen to that person’s ideas with openness. His supportive attitude towards his peers exemplifies those qualities of a leader.
Wade’s flexibility is a characteristic that will help him achieve all of his goals. We are very proud of your hard work.
